The Preveli beach, also referred to as Lake Preveli or Phoenix, is situated at the exit of the breathtaking Kourtaliotikos Gorge, through which the Grand River (Megalos Potamos) flows. Undoubtedly, this beach on South Crete is incredibly popular, drawing in thousands of visitors every summer.

The banks of the Grand River are adorned with a magnificent colony of Theophrastus palm trees, creating a delightful tropical ambiance. This palm forest is the second largest in Crete, following the Palm Forest of Vai.
The river creates a lake that stretches for 500 metres before it reaches the sea. Explore the picturesque riverbank, surrounded by lush palm trees, as you make your way towards the enchanting canyon. Discover a stunning beach with a mix of pebbles and sand that stretches along the river’s mouth.

In addition, towards the eastern side of the beach, you’ll find a stunning rock formation that resembles a heart. There will be ample opportunities for you to relax and unwind, whether it’s taking a dip in the crystal-clear waters, basking in the glorious sunshine, or venturing out to discover the unique and captivating scenery.

The bus will make a stop at the closest parking lot to the shore, where a convenient walkway will guide you down to the beach.

The parking area is conveniently located near impressive vertical cliffs, providing ample opportunities for capturing stunning photographs. Enjoy a leisurely walk along the trail, which consists of approximately 300 stairs, and you’ll reach the beach in about 15 minutes.

Following approximately 4 hours of leisurely beach time, the day will draw to a close and we will make our way back.
