Knossos, the most popular attraction in Crete, is a must-visit for anyone planning to explore our beautiful island. Located on a captivating archaeological site, the epicentre of a remarkable ancient civilization can be found in Greece. By delving into excavations, local tales, and historical accounts, a wealth of knowledge awaits us about the site’s original residents – the Minoan people, who held sway over the Mediterranean. Knossos is an incredibly significant monument that showcases the immense impact of a civilization on history. It features a humble palace, a mural room, royal tombs, and a royal residence.

The palace corridors were known as the Labyrinth due to their intricate structure, which was said to be the former home of the legendary Minotaur according to myth. The palace of Knossos on Crete continues to captivate visitors with its incredible architectural plan, the incorporation of exquisite and opulent materials, the implementation of cutting-edge construction and drainage techniques, and its impressive scale.

Following our trip to Knossos Palace, we will be heading to Patsides to explore the Minoan Farm. This unique destination offers the chance to sample their delightful products and explore their sprawling estate, which is adorned with an abundance of Cretan herbs.

We head back to the city where we can take a leisurely walk through the heart of Heraklion. Afterwards, you can make the most of your time in the capital of Crete by immersing yourself in the rich history at the Archaeological Museum, or simply wandering through the magnificent mediaeval structures. You can also visit the city’s contemporary boutiques, enjoy a cup of coffee at the famous Lion Square, or delight a tasty meal in one of the many traditional restaurants in the city centre.
